Dr. Tommi Vainio, CTO at Beneq Oy, started his professional career as Research Scientist in the Laboratory of Polymer Technology in Helsinki University of Technology, Finland, in 1991 and later in Ecole d’Application des Hauts Polymères in Strasbourg, France. In 1996 he joined Valmet Service, Finland as R&D Engineer in paper machinery applications and polymeric materials. In 1998 Tommi joined Nextrom (ex. Nokia-Maillefer) as R&D Manager in Business Area Fiber Optics. Since then he has held a number of positions in R&D and Product Team Management in Fiber Optic Cable business area.
His latest position was the Managing Director, responsible of Fiber Optic Cable and Optical Fiber business areas.Since 2005, as CTO and one of the founding members of Beneq, Tommi is responsible of technology and business development at Beneq. Tommi received his MSc degree from Tampere University of Technology, Finland (Paper Converting and Polymer Technology, 1991) and Doctor of Technology degree from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland (Polymer Technology, 1996). He holds special know-how in material science, polymers and polymer processing technologies.
Beneq was established in May 2005 as an MBO spin out from Nextrom (ex. Nokia-Maillefer). Beneq's competence background (under Nextrom) is in fiber optics industry having supplied more than 150 complete CVD (chemical vapor deposition) production systems for glass preform manufacturers. Our focus is on equipment and technology for functional coatings based on our experience to supply systems for research and industry. We are good at technological competence, product life cycle management and strong supply chain and contract management.
